Custom Shim Packs are made to order shims of virtually any shape or thickness. We use various methods to cut these, and we can achieve tolerances of +/- 0.05mm (Standard +/-0.2mm unless requested otherwise) - tighter tolerances can be achieved and checked if required. Material certification and conformance reports available on request. All shims come deburred and cleaned ready for use.

-Thin stainless is notoriously hard to cut, especially the very thin
-Mastercut have perfected techniques to ensure a clean cut for all thicknesses, save yourself the hassle and let us do the cutting for you
-Don't accept burred, unclean cutting for your shims. Our shims are cut with a high precision fibre laser, specifically designed for cutting thin materials. Unlike methods such as waterjet cutting that leave messy edges and require a lot of time to clean and deburr, Mastercut shims will arrive precisely cut and burr free, so you can just unpack and use straight from the box.
File Handling
Mastercut specialise in cutting and supplying shim packs for all applications. Any shape or profile can be cut with the only limitation being the width of the coil (610mm). Using our in-house CAD capabilities, we can accurately draw the required designs and where possible nest them to minimise wastage and maximise yield from the material. We can also accept most drawing files including .DWG, .DXF, .Ai, .STL
Our custom cut shims conform to API 686.
The stock list on the Shim home page shows material thicknesses up to 5mm, but any thickness is available.
Mastercut hold a wide range of quality stainless steel shim in stock in grades 304 and 316, starting from 0.025mm and can supply shim cut to length or precision cut to your required shape.
Delivery
-Once cleaned and de-burred, shims are then grouped by type and thickness, then securely packed and labelled. This makes for fast identification for receipting into a store or streamlining the installation on site.
